One of the newest stores in downtown Conway has a unique concept in its rescue mission. Rescued furniture that has been transformed into something shabby chic.
The Shabby Chick store, located at 910 3rd Avenue, offers hand painted furniture, eclectic finds, homemade jewelry, crafts and unique home décor. There, you can find cottage furniture, ‘one-of-kind’ vintage furniture and shabby chic home decor and accessories.
The owner, Kerriann Cherry, along with her husband, Dave, have a passion for antiques, unique furnishings, and creative pieces. According to their website, “Kerriann has been making the old look new again. Her creativity has taken her from painting to scrapbooking and crafting. A love of color and an eye for design has kept Kerriann going strong.”
Almost every piece in The Shabby Chick has been handpicked, cleaned, painted, and cared for by the owner. She spends time with each piece she rescues from estate sales, antique stores, auction, etc.
Often the time spent creating a piece develops a relationship with each table, chair, dresser, or night stand and a name will come to her while she is working, and that becomes the name of the piece. Some of the more recent items are named: Sonya a gooseneck rocking chair; Martha & Marvin, a pair of farm chairs; and Ally, an old dry sink.
