The inside of Twice As Nice Consignment

Having shared my blog with some newbies, I received an invitation to go shopping with one of my newest friends. She wanted to check out some second-hand stores in our area, so we made a day of it. We only had time to visit two stores this time, but looking forward to the next date!

Our first stop was Twice as Nice Consignment in Socastee, just down from the swing bridge. According to my friend, the store apparently moved to this newer location for expansion and better visibility. It was big (with three store fronts – 4,800 square feet) and took us about 2 hours to browse.

The store offers a variety of women’s clothes, accessories, furniture and home decor, most from consignors. I was very pleased with pricing, especially since they were having a 50% off sale the day we went. Apparently, the store offers mark downs every Friday. Furniture was adequately priced from $20 to $500, depending on the piece. The wide selection of items provided opportunity for browsing in each side at least twice – hence making this twice as nice. However, I was having trouble finding clothes for my taste. While we were there, the store was quite busy with other patrons, but everyone else seemed to be over 50 years old. The staff behind the counter was chatting with everyone, which provided a cozy atmosphere, just like everyone knew each other. The selection of clothes reflected the potential style of their customers with more polyester, sweater sets and elastic waist bands than I could count. My friend and I also noticed a large number of dressy, sequin sleeveless tops – most likely to go under suit sets. However, there was a great selection of purses, furniture and kitchenware – always something to come back to check out.

Examples of tops with sequins and beadings.

Needless to say, I did find a few treasures: a star tree topper for $6, a lavender purse as a Christmas gift for my sister for $4 and one blouse that I could get away with at work for $2. My grand total was $12.

If you go: Twice As Nice Consignment

Our second stop will be another blog post to come soon.
